About Vijit Pillai
A successfully established Hyderabad-based new (and mixed media) artist, Vijit Pillai's works are mystical, with a visual conundrum of colours peeling off and delicate forms emerging from underneath them. His professional experiences in advertising inadvertently led to his journey of creating highly textured, graphic, collage-like work. Vijit Pillai uses his own photographs and other references which take new forms through the use of textures, filters, sophisticated digital techniques, and sometimes laced with acrylic paint on canvas in the genre of 'Mixed Media Art“ in exclusive or limited-edition canvases. It is the spontaneity of improvisation that you experience in jazz and blues that has been a principal influence in Vijit's art of experimenting, improvisation, and reinventing. He creates works with the themes of Buddha, the Mughal era, Indian heritage, and works inspired by legendary musicians, poets, and literary writers. Through a contemporary touch of digital media, the artist explores the world of the past. He has conducted successful exhibitions in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Fujairah, UAE. Over 500 of his artworks are part of the decor at the Sheraton Grand Bangalore and the Radisson Blu Plaza, Hyderabad. His artworks have been displayed along with masters like MF Hussain and F N Souza at The All India Auction of Modern and Contemporary Artists at Windsor Manor, Bangalore in August 2013. His work has received international recognition through art patrons and he is now venturing into the world of digital Non-Fungible Tokens.
