Born on 26th October 1960

Hailing from a family of musicians, I believe that I am blessed to be born with an artistic influence. Black is the colour that I always find myself drawn to and I take the liberty to use them generously in my paintings. Initially I started with black and white paintings. Gradually I moved into the vibrant world of colours, thanks to the inspiration I drew from the Kutch tribe. The simplicity, openness, innocence and celebration in the life of the tribal people form the crux of my inspiration. I wish to convey the importance of peace, harmony and sincerity through sensitive emotions that the subjects of my paintings wear.
Anuradha Thakur, who is from Ahmednagar, holds a graduate degree in fine arts. She possesses an unconditional love for tribal lands which is evidently reflected in her work. She redefined the term 'dedication' when she spent time in the Naxal infested parts of Maharashtra to study the lives of the local tribes and portray them in her paintings. The textures in her paintings are created by thin black lines that add detail and depth. She has presented several solo shows in Paris, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Amritsar and Chandigarh. She has also displayed her paintings in group shows at Boston, Chicago, Bulgaria Hyderabad and Amritsar. Her art has taken the form of cover designs and illustrations for Oxford University Press, UK and Hesperian Foundation, California
