About Amar Sultan
Born on 19th August 1977
Mussoorie-based Amar Sultan first picked up a brush under his father’s guidance, which became a lifelong affiliation of creative expression. His oil paintings have bold textures, impressionist brushstrokes, soft and simple colours. They are a poetic rendition of pigeons as symbolic of peace and their interactions with their us. His works tend to capture their ever ceasing fluttering and cooing in our immediate neighbourhood. His work shuns all other contradictions of the world where we live in. His works entice you with softness and simplicity, which is his unique artistic language. Quite often, humans are depicted in blues and reds while the pigeons are white and yellow with textured or mosaic patterns in the background.
